Hoffenheim vs Lyon
UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 23 October 2018
Kick-Off at 22:00 EAT
Venue: Wirsol Rhein-Neckar Arena (Sinsheim).
A battle of equals it may seem on paper but recent form of both these teams say otherwise.
Hoffenheim under manager Julian Nagelsmann was brilliant last season in Bundesliga. For his performance in taking the team to 3rd place in the league Julian won the German Manager of the season in 2017.
But coming into the top European stage Julian’s lack of experience is showing in his team’s performance. Drawn in Group F with Lyon, City and Shakhtar everyone knew it would be tough for the team.
They held Shakhtar for a draw 2-2 in the group opener and then lost a home game against Manchester City 2-1.
Lyon had a surprise start to their European campaign with an away win at Manchester City. Nabil Fekir and Maxwell Cornet found the net in the first half and they went on to defend the score even though Aguero converted from the spot.
The team managed by Bruno Genesio has had an average domestic season. A 5-0 thrash away to PSG was the highlight last week for them. Fekir picked up an ankle injury on his international duty and will not be playing this Tuesday.
Considering Lyon will want to stay on top of the group they will come all guns blazing for an important away win.

Hoffenheim vs Lyon: Prediction
Hoffenheim has to at least try to repeat their domestic form from last season in Europe to get to the Europa league spot. The Germans have an experienced squad and a young manager who has already earned respect last season.
Nagelsmann’s side are scoring goals but are conceding at an alarming rate. With Lyon’s attacking options to face they have to tidy up at the back.
Lyon will lack midfield strength with Fekir out with injury. But they still have options up front of the like of Dembele and Traore who can find the net from half-chances.
